My birthday cake

Me, my best friend Amanda, and good friend Phil all share birthdays close to the same day. This year Amanda and I got together to make a cake and decorate it. I always underestimate the time that will need to be put into it, even sometimes when it seems like it will be a simple task. Good thing amanda's boyfriend came along to help watch the kids, because I don't think we would've achieved anything without him! [My husband is finishing up his evening classes for the semester..so he wasn't home that day..but he's getting his MPA so it will be worth it!!]

so to explain the cake: one side was a tent and campfire to symbolize our favorite thing to do..which is camping

Phil's side was a Mac apple [I was jealous], mostly because he is Mr. brains, and a computer geek. He also got a math equation on his side[with edible marker]. Ha, and I had no clue what it meant!

Amanda's side had a tree and leaves to symbolize the outdoors and hiking. We were going to paint a scene but ran out of time.

My side[well the top because apparently I'm a cake hog ;)] was an owl..to symbolize my obsession with owls ;) although I wasn't too sure about the color I chose..[My inspiration for the owl came from a little wooden owl I bought at Michael's craft store].

I am so thankful to have good friends to share my birthday month with ;)
